Daily Woof and Weather May 31

Hey Peeps,

Well today was a little quiet around the island.  I guess I should enjoy the quiet time while we have it.  Before we know it the poop is going to hit the fan and we will be rocking and rolling with high season right around the corner.  We can see it already as next week is shaping up to be busy.

I stayed busy today as i went with Eric to buy some new equipment for the shop so we make sure that we are ready for the busy time.  Axel is finishing servicing all of our regulators and we have all new fins coming in next week.

After that I went to go inspect my new house.  I already picked out my room and decided to mark it for myself already if you know what I mean.  I don’t think anyone else is going to want to sleep in that room.  I’m going to have to start decorating it soon.  Does anyone know where I can get posters of Lassie and Rin Tin Tin?  That Lassie is a lot cuter than the Farrah Fawcett poster my dad had when he was my age.

So, today we had a great day at Koh Tao with Joe and some DSDs.  It may be a little busy for the guys this week as Claudio has gone to Bangkok for a few days for some reason.  I am sure he will not be partying at all there and will just do some shopping and be in bed by 9:00 every night with no drinking.  Same as i would do.

Tomorrow we have an open water course starting and then more courses and fundivers starting on Saturday.

The weather is going to be dry and hot for the next four or five days and then the forecast calls for a little system to come in, but we will wait and see.

Here are some pictures of my new doghouse and me checking out my new room and the views.

Yes!!! Yes!!, I finally got to go diving today.  We had a big group of divers and snorkelers going to Koh Tao today and I overheard Eric saying that we needed a snorkel guide for the trip and I raised my paw right away and volunteered.  Of course it was a no brainer as I am the best snorkel guide on the island.

So we took off to Koh Tao today and I had the best time.  I made a lot of friends and showed the gang all the good snorkel spots and fish in Koh Tao.  I also was the boatmaster today and gave the briefing and helped the gang getting the equipment on and off and barking instructions from the boat.  i also got to go diving during lunch.  After I stole some food of course.  I even got tipped at the end of the day also with some chicken nuggets.  What a great day.

We had the whole gang on the boat as we had 3 families doing PADI discovery scuba diving, and some divers and snorkelers.  Eric, Claudio, Axel, Joe, Stella and myself of course were all on the boat.

Tomorrow we have a trip to Sail Rock, but I am so exhausted that I may have to take the day off.

Well, the rain held off today and it is supposed to improve the next few days so the diving should be getting good.

I’ll leave you with a bunch of photos here on the blog, but we will have a ton more on our facebook page.  you can reach the page through the link at the bottom of our homepage at http://www.discoverydivers.com.

Daily Woof and Weather May 28

Oh Boy, looks like I missed a great day at Sail Rock.  they even saw an octopus.  I have never seen an octopus there before, but they have a picture so I guess it’s true.  Well, today at least the rain held off, for now, but it looks like more coming tonight and tomorrow.  I guess I will do my diving in the street tomorrow, or will that fall through for me too?

Today was a little quiet with just a couple of people going to Sail Rock, but tomorrow we got a big group going to Koh Tao with 6 people trying scuba diving for the first time and a bunch of other divers and snorkelers going with them.  I think they are going to need me on the boat tomorrow as a dogmaster to help.  I sure hope so.  I am itching to get back down under the water (or maybe that’s the fleas).

So, the weather is going to be a little rough for the next day, but then it is supposed to clear up and be a lot nicer.

The gang finally put up some pictures from the other day and if you want to see some funny video they took of Stella during her stress test.  They made her change masks underwater and then gave her a mask with a hole in it.  What a bunch of mean guys.  I’m gonna kick some ass if I found out who’s idea that was.  you can check out the video on our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/discovery.divers.9      or link at the bottom of our home page at http://www.discoverydivers.com

Daily Woof and Weather May 27

Happy Memorial Day to my American friends out there.  Another day here and another day I got jipped.

Yesterday I was told that I was first up for taking out divers on Sunday because everyone wanted the day off for Stella’s PADI divemaster graduation party.  So I figured as long as I get to go diving then I can miss the party.  In fact I was all psyched to use my new dive computer that I had just bought.  I spent the day Saturday learning all about the computer and how to use it on my dives.

Then Eric tells me that because of the bad weather forecast for Sunday he decided to cancel the diving for the day as we felt it wouldn’t be fun for the divers to go out in huge waves and rain, and boy was he right because it rained all day here.  So, because he gave everyone else off, I had to work the office today so everyone else could go out and party last night.  I went to the party, but had to come home early so i could get some sleep before work.

They tell me the party was great last night and congratulations to my best friend Stella who after 3 months of very hard work completed her divemaster training and now is a full fledged divemaster.  Of course I completed my dogmaster course in 2 months, but I also am very talented.  There are some great pictures from last night you can see at the bottom of my blog.

The weather today kind of sucked, but it is supposed to start getting better after tomorrow.  Tomorrow will still have some winds and probably 1 meter waves, but Tuesday everything is supposed to calm down and the seas should get back to normal and the rain should be stopping.

Always the groomsman, never the groom.  Well another one bit the dust today.  Can you believe it that on one of our dives today, a couple got engaged.  It was a complete surprise to Monica when she found a ring hidden inside coral at Japanese Gardens during their dive today.  The only problem is that I actually bought the ring and hid it to propose to her and Ben got all the credit and the girl!  Life is so unfair.  Now I am out a ton of money and didn’t get the girl. She even said yes to him.

Well, I guess i will have to say congratulations to Ben and Monica on their engagement.  Just another exciting day here at Discovery Divers.

Tomorrow I am sure I will be on the boat as we have a big group going to Sail Rock.  That will get my mind off my broken heart I hope.

The weather might be a little bit dicey for the next couple of days.  We are expecting some high winds and waves for the next couple of days and maybe some rain also.  Well, the rain doesn’t bother me anyway.  If I can’t go diving I need to get wet some way.

Here are some pictures from today’s dive and if you’d like to see the engagement video, then check out our facebook page where it is posted.  you can link to it from the bottom of our home page at http://www.discoverydivers.com.

Did it again!!  I was so excited to go diving today as I knew it was going to be a fun day.  we had many fun divers and courses going on and everyone looked like fun people to dive with.  So I wake up at 5:30 and my dad was running late so I told him I will go by myself to the beach to do my “business”.  While I was at the beach I ran into my friend Tong Naam who was down there for the same reason.  So he tells me that he knows this place on the other side of the beach where they throw out chicken every night and he knows where to find the leftovers.  We go down in front of honey cottage where the chicken is and ran into Duke and Rocky.  Not the nicest dogs on the beach.  They told us that they took the chicken and buried it on the beach and if we wanted it we would have to find it.  So after one hour of looking and watching them laugh at us they told us they ate the chicken already.  What a couple of jerks!  So, by the time I got back to my house and went to the boat, the boat left already.  Too bad, because I saw the pictures from today  and can’t believe I missed all the fun.

I missed Aashna and Aditya completing their PADI scuba diver certifications with Claudio and Stella and Isabella completing her PADI open water course with Axel.  Also, Eric was diving with Alex and Ali from LA and Mikhal at Sail Rock.

As far as the weather goes, it looks like we are going to start to get a little wind and maybe a little bit of rain for the next few days, so we will see what happens with the waves.  Hopefully it will not be too bad.

Here are some pictures of the fun everyone had today.

Daily Woof and Weather May 22

So today I had to go to the beach at Chaweng and supervise Stella doing her 800 meter divemaster swim.  I made sure to pay strict attention to her and not be distracted by anything. Especially the fish.  I remember when I had to do my swim when I was completing my Dogmaster course.  They made me do it twice.  How was I supposed to know that it was against PADI rules to have my friends drag a cat through the water in front of me while I was swimming?  I did the first time in 5 minutes.

It was a little quiet at work today, but we still had a trip out to Sail Rock today which I heard was really nice.  Tomorrow we have Eric, Stella, Axel and Claudio on the boats to Koh Tao and Sail Rock and Claudio will be starting some  PADI open water courses at the Amari.  I’m still waiting for my phone call to see what my assignment is for tomorrow.  I am sure that after doing such a good job supervising today, I am probably up for a promotion.

The forecast for the next few days is more of the same.  Sunny and hot.  The wind event that they originally forecasted seems to be calming down a bit so maybe no big waves, but we’ll keep you posted.

I have some action shots that someone took of me today that I haven’t seen yet.  I am sure they will show my professionalism today.  You can also check out some video on our facebook page  http://www.facebook.com/discovery.divers.9

Daily Woof and Weather May 20

So I took the day off today as planned.  No, it had nothing to do with my massive hangover.  I did go out last night taking some potential clients out to the Boneyard for some drinks.  CC, Tong Naam, Deng Mo and Max.  They are all thinking of taking the PADI Canine Open water course next week.  At least that is what I am telling the boss tomorrow when I hand him the receipt for 10,000 baht to be reimbursed as a business expense.

I really must have been drunk because I had a dream that i was humping this nice little filly I met at the Boneyard, but found out later that it was some human leg over at Green Mango.  Boy was my dad pissed when he had to pick me up there at 3:00 am and pay the girl 2000 baht on top of it.  is that what a leg goes for nowadays?  God, I hope those pictures don’t end up on my Facebook page.

So, when I did get up i spend the rest of the day hiding out from my dad in my new house that is being built. “Stoli Estates”.  I hadn’t been there in a while so I went to inspect what was going on and WOW, the house is really coming along.  Of course they haven’t started on the little house in the back where my dad is going to live.

I checked in at the shop later and found out that they had a fun day scuba diving at Sail Rock.  Congratulations to Gautum on completing his PADI open water course and to Rahon on completing his PADI scuba diver course today.  Good job guys.

Tomorrow we have divers going to Sail Rock and to Koh Tao.

The next few days look pretty good with very little chance of rain and sunny skies and hot temps.  Perfect for diving.

I’ll leave you with some pictures of the new house

Daily Woof and Weather May 19

So yesterday it’s whalesharks and today it’s turtles.  Looks like the gang had a great day in Koh Tao diving while I was stuck in the office all day.  I kept busy packing bags, selling t-shirts and booking divers as well as stealing food from whoever I could.

Looks like I will be in the office tomorrow again with my dad, so that means I can sleep in a little tomorrow.  Looks like I’ll be heading to the Boneyard for a few drinks tonight then.  there should be some good tail there tonight being Saturday night and all.  Of course I mean pretty dog tails for all of you with dirty minds.

Speaking of tails, the guys today saw a pink tailed triggerfish at shark island today.  I haven’t seen one of those before and they got to play with a turtle for a while also.  Well, I’ll be getting over there for scuba diving soon I hope.

Tomorrow we are off to Sail Rock with a bunch of PADI courses and fun divers.  Should be a great day and hopefully another whale shark around.

Weather seems to be the same here in Koh Samui as no rain and the winds dying down, so should be great to the boats.

Here’s some pictures from today.

Daily Woof and Weather May 18

Whaleshark, whaleshark, whaleshark.  That’s all I hear today.  What’s so damn special about a whaleshark?  Now if they saw a dogshark I could understand all the excitement.  I know they don’t get the press that the whalesharks get, but did I ever tell you guys about the dogsharks i saw while diving on a little island off the coast of Malaysia?   These were amazing.  They had four paw-fins, and you know they were dogsharks because of their wet noses.  That is the key.  Every dogshark I saw under water had a wet nose and they were always looking for an underwater fire hydrant to pee on.

So I think we should start a campaign to rename some of the dive spots around here that have been unfairly named after sharks.  how about Dog island?  Dog Point? Dog Rock?  Poodle Pinnacle?  Lets get on the wagon people.

So, all this came up today because the gang was diving today at Sail Rock and at Koh Tao and they scuba diving gang at Sail Rock got to swim around with a whaleshark (big deal) for about 20 minutes before all the other boats came in.  We have some great shots here and on our facebook site which you can link to from http://www.discoverydivers.com.

So, tomorrow is another big day at Discovery Divers.  We have boats going out to Sail Rock and Koh Tao again.  Tomorrow we have discovery scuba diving programs and fun divers and then next week we have a big group of people coming in for some PADI courses.

The weather looks great for the next couple of days as the winds are dying down and we should have pretty flat seas and lots of sun with temperatures in the mid-30’s.

Here are some pictures from today and I will try to dig up some of my pictures of the dogsharks for tomorrow.

I thought I’d get my blog written before dinner tonight.  We are still at the office at 7 pm, so that must mean that Dad is taking me to the Amari beach BBQ tonight for dinner.  Awesome.  They have steak, chicken, pork and lots of dessert.  I can’t wait, so I will have to hurry up with my blog.

I was up early today to go diving at Sail Rock.  All I have been hearing all week is how great it is there now so I thought I’d get my ass up and see for myself.  When I got to the shop I found out that there were two other dog divers today with discovery and the guys had to use my BCD for them.  I guess I will have to wait until Friday to go.  I am sure the conditions will still be great on Friday.

Today we had a good mix of people going to Koh Tao and Sail Rock.  Congratulations to Satyan and Sarah in completing their open water course today and to Ansar on his first dive ever today.  Both Koh Tao and Sail rock were great today as you can see from the pictures below.

The winds are supposed to calm down a bit tomorrow, but still h]ave some for the next week or so, but as long as the diving is good, we can put up with some bumpy boat rides.

Daily Woof and Weather May 15

Wow, looks like to time to break the surfboard out again and hang 20.  The waves got a little big this afternoon.  They must have because I saw Joe wakeboarding on the back of Blue Fin on the way back from Koh Tao today.  The good thing is that the waves are not affecting visibility at all.  Sail Rock was 30 meters today and beautiful  I guess I can trade some waves for those kind of conditions.

Tomorrow we have trips going to Koh Tao and Sail Rock again, and I’ll be ripping it up on Cheweng Beach getting ready for the Dob Surfing championships.  I saw this movie Marmaduke the other day and the dogs surfing in that movie couldn’t hold a paw to my skills.

The weather for tomorrow calls for more wind and a few waves but still dry.

Here are some pictures from today.

So how do these gecko guys get on the walls and the ceilings.  Something is not right here.  I have been trying all night to climb the walls and the ceilings to get them and my feet just won’t stick.  I am going to try the glue my dad has as soon as he goes to sleep.  I am sure that’s what the geckos are using.  Wait till I get my paws on one of those guys!

Oh, was I supposed to be talking about diving?  Well for low season we sure are busy.  Yesterday we had 14 divers out to Koh Tao including a lot of DSDs.  What a fun time everyone had and a few even booked again for today.  Today Claudio, Eric and Stella went out to Sail Rock and I heard it was beautiful.  25 meter visibility and tons of fish.  Stella was completing some of here final things to become a divemaster including her deep dive (41 meters today), equipment exchange and diver rescue. Joe and Axel were in the office and pool with students.

Tomorrow we have trips going to Sail Rock and Koh Tao.  I’ll be holding down the office for everybody till they come back.

The weather looks dry the next few days, but some wind coming in which will cause a few waves.  This pattern seems to be hanging around for a few days, but no rain with it.

I’ll leave you with some more pictures.

Hey Guys,

Well, it got real busy again here and on my day off also.  I spent the day at the spa getting a hair cut, manicure and pedicure while the shop was very busy.  I am not sure how they got along without me as I am the top salesman in the office.

I guess the vacation is over as we have a lot of customers for tomorrow.  We have boats going to Sail Rock and to Koh Tao.  Sunday already looks busy too with a lot of fun dives and first time DSDs.

Sorry, but have to keep it short today as my hair is not dry yet and I need to get back under the dryer.

The weather is looking great for the next few days with no rain and just a little wind in the forecast.  No real big waves though.

I’ll leave you with some pictures of yesterday’s diving.

Daily Woof and Weather May 8

Today was another fun day here at Discovery. I had dome things to take care of with the new doghouse we are building, so everyone else got to go diving. Stella even saw here first whale shark today at Shark Island.

We also had divers to Sail Rock who saw a lot of cool stuff. After all the diving I decided to take my dad fishing at Choeng Mon beach. I’m getting pretty good at picking them out of the shallow water. Unfortunately I really like the crabs but they don’t like me. Why do they always try to pinch my nose?

I got a little dirty and my dad forced me to take a shower. I am not sure why as I always smell like roses.

The weather was beautiful today and supposed to stay that way for the next few days, with tomorrow a high of 35 and 37 by Thursday.

Well, tomorrow we have a trip to Koh Tao and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. I may sleep in a little as I am pretty tired from my fishing. I’ll leave you with some pictures of the diving today and some of yours truly.

Daily Woof and Weather May 7

Hey everyone,

What a busy weekend for me.  My friends Bodie and Ruby’s parents were visiting from Lake Tahoe and I was busy entertaining them and taking them diving.  I took Frank and Yvonne diving on Saturday and then Saturday after diving I took them with Eric and Stella to the full moon party Saturday night.  What a night.  It was my first time going to the full moon party.  I had a few buckets, went down the slide and you should have seen me jumping rope with the fire rope.  I was awesome.

We have been keeping busy in the shop now with a steady stream of divers and people buying T-shirts with the supermodel on them.  We just bought a bunch of new BCDs and fins to replace our stock and we are selling our older stock for huge discounts.  Tomorrow I have to supervise as we are getting all of our tanks hydrostatically and visually inspected.  We actually do them early here and don’t wait the full time that we could if we wanted to.

As far as the weather goes, today is nice and hot again and it is supposed to stay that way for the next while.  Hopefully no more rain for now.

I’ll leave you with some of the pictures from my dives with Frank and Yvonne, and unfortunately since I was the photographer, I’m not in the pictures.

Daily Woof and Weather May 3

Yo Yo,

What up?  Well, it is raining right now so that has put my plans for picking up bitches on the beach on hold for now (female dogs of course).  This gives me some time to get my blog done a little earlier today.  Good thing the rain did not start until all of our divers were back and in their hotels already.

It’s good to get some rain finally as it has been so hot here.  Now i don’t have to go out and water the plants later.  Maybe I’ll just water the leg of a chair or the nest door neighbor’s bike.  I need to rest up anyway as my friend Bode’s parents Frank and Yvonne are coming all the way from Lake Tahoe here tomorrow to visit and do some diving on Saturday.  i am sure I’ll be the guide on that trip.

Today was a great day on the boat and Elisa finished her open water course with Joe.  Looks like they had a lot of fun.

As far as the weather goes, it looks like a chance of rain and a little bit of waves for the next few days and then clearing up with no rain or wind after Monday.

Daily Woof and Weather May 1

Happy May Day everyone.  I am not sure what that means.  Do I get a gift or something?  I haven’t gotten it yet.  Maybe Dad will leave the trash our for me to know over and explore as a gift.  Oh never mind, already did it.

Well, May came in the same as April.  Really doggone hot here.  I’m glad I’m hanging in the office today with the air conditioning.  Good thing too, because we’ve been busy.

We started and finished a lot of courses in the last couple of days.  Congratulations to Christian on completing his rescue diver course, and to Ivonne in completing her digital underwater specialty course.

The big storm that was supposed to come today never materialized, so looks like most ly sun for the next couple of days with a small chance of some rain mixed in but no big deal.

I’ll leave you with some pictures and you can tell how busy we’ve been with the picture of Axel on the boat after finishing teaching the rescue course.
