Daily Woof and Weather March 26

I am so excited.  I just found out from my dad that tomorrow he is taking me to Snoopy World.  The Doggy version of Disney World.  Four days of Doggy heaven.  First I’m going to go to Boneland where everything is a bone and chewable, and then off to postman land. (we all know what does on there), and finally to fire hydrant land.   Fire hydrants as far as you can see.  I am going to make sure to load up on my water before that one.  I think after Snoopy World my dad may take me diving.

Today we had a great trip to Sail Rock.  Finally it cleared up and we had 25 m + visibility.  We even had a diver today who is a U.S. Army General on leave from Afghanistan.  I decided to sit that dive out for fear of underwater snipers.

The bad news is that I won’t be able to do my blog for a few days, so you will have to get along without me.  I’ll fill you in on everything when I get back.

Well, off to pack so bark at ya later,

Daily Woof and Weather March 24

Hey Everybody,

Another great day here at Discovery Divers.  I spent the whole day in the office catching up on my paperwork while the guys had fun on the boat today.  We also had Stella out by the pool doing try dives.

Today the guys had open water courses and DSDs in Koh Tao.  Joe told me that Shark Island was beautiful today.  It’s good to see that conditions are starting to get great again.  Hopefully I can get out there soon and dive.

I spent a lot of the day helping plan for the fundraiser we are having next week for my friend Dayna to help with her medical bills.  I hear that she may be able to leave the hospital tomorrow.  The whole dive community here in Samui has pulled together and really come through with a lot of cash to help and the dive shops are all donating stuff to raffle off at the party.

Who will win the dinner with me?  I hope a cute girl, but I will take the highest bidder of course.  We will start at 10,000.

The weather is more of the same, but boy was it hot today.  i think today was the hottest day we have had all year.

I’ve got to get back to my work now so

Daily Woof and Weather March 22

Another hot and sunny day here in Samui.  A scorcher.  I’m thinking of getting totally shaved at this point just to stay cool.  Luckily I was able to spend the morning at the beach with my dad and go swimming all morning.  Work can wait.

The gang at the shop had a great day though.  Joe and Claudio had a really fun day with a group of 6 DSDs over in Koh Tao.  I saw the pictures from the day and what a blast!!.  I think Claudio’s arms might be tired though.

Tomorrow is not too busy.  We have some fun divers for Sail Rock and courses starting.  Maybe I can take another day off???

The weather?   You guessed it, sunny and hot again.  No change for the foreseeable future.

I’ll leave you with some pictures of today’s group and..

Daily Woof and Weather March 21

Yo Yo Yo,

I took the day off from work today to help organize a party-fundraiser for my pal Dayna who is still in the hospital.  We are going to have it on Saturday March 31, at Hush in Soi Green Mango.  I have barked at a lot of the dive shops around the island and we are going to have a raffle with some great prizes to give away.  I even am going to donate a dinner with me at one of my favorite restaurants.  Maybe I can even get my favorite bar “The boneyard ” to throw a party.

Now back to the diving.  Congratulations to David and Jun in completing their open water course and to Stella in completing her Emergency First Responder course.  Now I feel safer if something happens to me with her around.

Tomorrow we have a big group of people trying scuba diving for the first time going to Koh Tao.  They will have a blast I am sure.

The weather is getting to be a broken record.  Hot and sunny with no rain.

Hey Peeps,

Well, I tried to go and visit Dayna today at the hospital, but they said they have a “no dogs” policy.  That sucks.  I just wanted to cheer her up.  So I spent the rest of the day trying to find a disguise to get in.  I think if I just put on some cool shades I can sneak past the receptionist.

Other than that a busy couple of days here at the shop.  Congratulations to my good friends Rafael and Maite in completing their nitrox courses.  Congratulations to my best friend Stella who completed her rescue diver course today.  Today was a fun day on the boat with boats going to Sail Rock and to Koh Tao.

Tomorrow we have boats going again to Koh Tao and to Sail Rock with all different courses and fun divers going.

As far as the weather goes, again more of the same.  Hot and sunny.  There is no rain or wind in the forecast for the foreseeable future.  I hear from some of my old pals at Tails and Trails in Lake Tahoe and they got almost 5 feet of snow in the last couple of days.  I remember when I used to jump around in that stuff.

Well, I am off to try on some more disguises so I will

Hi Everybody,

I am sorry, but I am very sad today as my friend Dayna, who is also one of the instructors at Discovery had a little accident on the motorbike and is in the hospital.  She also helps me write my blog a lot of the time.

Me and all my doggy friends and the staff at Discovery hopes she gets better soon and can hang out with me again.  I will try to sneak into the hospital later and try to cheer her up.

Daily Woof and Weather March 17

Another hot and sunny day here in Samui.  It is so hot that I didn’t even want to leave the house today.  I only want to go out in the early morning or later in the day.  The good news is that the winds are changing this week and we expect the diving conditions to be awesome from here on out

I stayed in and rested today as I have a busy day tomorrow.  I have to be at the shop at 7:30 as I am starting 4 open water students tomorrow.  I will be asissted by Karl and Joe.  Also Axel will be taking fun divers to Chumphon Pinnacle tomorrow.

Today also was very busy.  Congratulations to Dennis for completing his open water course today and to Rafael in completing his rescue diver course today.  It’s good to know that Rafael can save me if I get into any trouble in the water.  Of course i will try not to lick him if he has to give me rescue breaths.

We got a busy week coming up, so I need to get some rest before my busy day tomorrow.

As far as the weather goes, the forecast says no rain all week and very hot.  I think I will have to spend a lot of time in the water cooling off.

Daily Woof and weather March 15

Well, I did get my wish last night and Dad took me out for a rib dinner with Axel, Rafael, Maite and Stella.  Eric even promised to take me on the boat diving today.  The ribs were great and I also drank a lot of beer with it.  Unfortunately, I think I drank a little too much beer and slept right through my alarm.  I missed the boat and the diving.  It made me sick when I saw the pictures from today’s trip as it looks like everyone had a blast at Koh Tao.  I even saw the picture of all the girls (Mindy, Stella, Bianca, and Maite).  Just to think, I could have been in the middle of that picture.

Well, tomorrow I will be in the office again as everyone else is busy doing diving and courses.  Tomorrow Dayna will be doing open water course and Eric will be doing the rescue diver course with Rafael and Stella.

The weather for tomorrow is more of the same with a high temperature of 33 (whoa, hot hot), and sunny skies.  Pretty much standard for this time of year.  Also it looks as the wind will be changing this week to a west wind which is great for diving.  Hopefully the change in wind patterns will clear out Sail Rock and make it good for diving again.

I’ll leave you with some of the pictures from my dinner last night and the diving today.

Daily Woof and weather March 14

Hey everybody,

I am writing the blog now and I am pissed off!!   I had to stay at home all day today and wait for them to come fi the satellite while everyone else had a great time on the boat.  I guess I’ll have to leave a little package for my dad on the living room floor to remind him to take me on the boat next time.  I did not even get to see my friends Rafael and Maite who were diving today.

The good news is dad say i can go to dinner tonight at Catcandoo to make up for it.  I love their ribs.

So, today had Eric, Karl, Axel, and Joe on the boats to Koh Tao.  Congratulations to Bianca who finished her open water course today and it looked like everyone had a good time.

Tomorrow looks like another great day with Eric, Karl, and Axel on the boat.

The weather has calmed down now and we had flat seas today and it looks like more sunshine and hot weather for the foreseeable future with sunny and high of 33 tomorrow.

Well, I have to run and get ready for dinner, so i am leaving you with a ton of pictures from today’s dive’s.  i better get a lot of ribs to make up for missing this.

Hey Peeps,

We had another busy day here at Discovery.  Unfortunately I did not have any customers today, but Eric, Axel and Joe had divers going to Sail Rock.  Dayna was lucky and got to go to Malaysia for one of those fun visa runs.  I have my own doggy work visa here in Thailand already and don’t need to go to Malaysia.

Tomorrow is another rager on the boats as we have a bunch of fun divers, dsd’s and Bianca finishing her open water course this week.  And then after that we have Rafael and Stella doing their rescue diver courses.  This is a fun one for me, because I get to help out during the panicked dog drill.  Even though I am completely comfortable in the water I have to fake like I am panicking.  I hope I do better this time, because the last time I helped I licked the rescuer by mistake.  I was supposed to hit them with my paws.

I’ll leave you with some pictures from today’s diving including a cool one of two puffer fish swimming together.

Daily Woof -11th March

Howdy-dudies!

Today, I took my doggy-divers out from the beach to Chaweng Reef (the captain wouldn’t allow me on the boat with the other people). It was a long doggy paddle out, but well worth it! We saw a big ball of catfish, which we all found hard to resist chasing round in circles -it wasn’t just the ‘cat’ instinct in us, we love to chase balls too!

Meanwhile, Karl took Christine out for a Deep Adventure dive on 32% Nitrox at Chumphon Pinnacle, which was beautiful. Joe had three fun divers and a couple of snorkellers joined us too. Here’s a few photos of Christine and the others on their wild adventure!

I’ll woof again tomorrow!

Daily Woof and weather March 10

Finally, I started my first doggy open water course today.  My students were CC and Franco.  Today we started out with the theory in the morning which consisted of some of the rules of diving ( no pooping on the boat, not peeing on the equipment, etc.) Then after we went to the pool at the Amari to do our confined water training and for some reason they asked us to leave and continue on the beach.  No fair!! The other instructors get to use the pool.  So, I started the guys off with their 200m swim and the 300m chase around the beach.  After that we put on our kit and did confined water dives 1-3 off of Choeng Mon beach.  Both of my students did very good and I also recruited 5 more dogs to start their course next week.

I wasn’t the only one busy today.  We had a good group on the boat today with some fun divers and some courses.  Right now we have advanced courses and nitrox specialties going on and some open waters starting tomorrow.  I hope that after this course I can maybe teach some of these dogs the advanced.  You can check out some of the pictures from my course, together with some of the days’ diving in Koh Tao below.  I hope to get done as my friends Rafael and Maite are coming in next week to do some diving and Rescue Diver course and nitrox courses.  I am sure Eric will ask me to assist in the rescue course.  I can be the panicked dog in the water.  I can’t wait till they try to give my rescue breaths.

As far as the weather goes, looks good again for tomorrow.  Hot and sunny.  Like grounddog day.  The system that was supposed to come in next week looks like it is weakening, so we may have a few days of wind, but then calming right down again.

Well, I got to go plan for tomorrow’s open water sessions so

Daily Woof & Weather -9th March

Hey buddies,

I took the day off today and left Eric & Dayna to entertain the crowds in the shop as my ears have been a bit sore (which I’m off to see the doc about) and with all the customers trying to scratch behind them (which I usually love, btw), it’s been agony trying to not yelp and scare the lovely people off! So I apologize for those of you that missed me today.

With regards to diving, Axel went to Chumphon Pinnacles today with Isabelle & Simon from Germany. All went well and the sun shone for everyone …speaking of sun, it’s been roasting hot the last few days, even with some heavy rain in the evenings, it’s still really warm. Tomorrow looks like another nice day; cloudy in the morning with highs of 29*C, and no rain forecast. So, there’s no excuse now for you not to come & join in the fun!

I should be back in the office tomorrow, so stay tun(a)ed…

Daily Woof and weather March 7

I finally took a day off to go to the salon and get my hair and nails cut.  Although it doesn’t really matter as I was irresistible to the ladies without my haircut.  Of course now I am the stud dog of Samui with my new haircut.

Hopefully the shop did not burn down without my supervision, but I checked in through the day and found out that everyone had a great day on the boats to Koh Tao.  Karl and Dayna had fundivers (including Phillipe, who is celebrating his 50th birthday today), Joe had some DSD’s and Axel had a nice group of DSDs also.  Eric had to stay in the office while everyone else was in the water.

Tomorrow we have divers going out to the Marine Park.  That should be fun, but I think I will just strut up and down the beautiful beach here at the shop and tease the other dogs.

As far as the weather goes, more perfect weather for tomorrow, with a high of 32 and sunshine.  It is getting a little hot now, and good thing we have the pool and sea to cool ourselves off in.

I’ll leave you some pictures of today’s dives and maybe a glamour shot also.

Daily Woof and Weather March 6

Hey Folks,

Well, things will finally get back to normal as Eric is back from the US, and I can finally take some time off. Eric was back in the US skiing and attending my Uncle Dave’s wedding.  Congratulations to Eric’s brother Dave on getting married over the weekend.  Too bad I had to stay here and run the shop.  The shop was so busy while he was gone and of course I was in charge the whole time and if I may say so, I did an awesome job running the shop.  Now I can get back to relaxing a little and playing on the beach instead of barking out orders.

Today was a busy day again as we had Karl, Joe, and JC on the boats going to Sail Rock and Koh Tao.  Congratulations to Annie, Johann, and Edita on finishing their scuba diver course today and Darren on completing his open water course.

It was really cool as Joe taught the course in sign language as Annie is deaf, believe it or not, Joe can teach courses in sign language.  Of course so can I, but sometimes it get confusing as I try to sign with all four hands.

Axel was also busy in the pool today doing try dives and Dayna in the office.  We got some really cool new green shirts in today for St. Patricks Day but we all know that it’s the cool picture of the handsome guy on the shirts that sells them.

Tomorrow is another busy day with Axel, Karl, Joe and Dayna all on the boats with courses, fun divers and DSD’s. It should be a great day.

As far as the weather goes, tomorrow looks like another fantastic day of hot, sun, and no wind.  And it looks like the same for the next few days.

Well I will bark at ya later,

Stoli

Daily Woof -5th March

Hey all!

Apologies for not barking in the last few days, but it has been super busy (Dayna’s been hogging the office computer replying to all the e-mails & inquiries we’ve been getting, so I haven’t had much chance to get my paws to the keyboard)! In the last few days we have been certifying some new students, including: Vyacheslav from Russia, Lisa from England and 12 year old Aureline from France! Well done guys, good work (and keep diving)! Here are some pics of the newbies underwater…

Daily Woof -1st March

Woweee!

What a busy day, but what a fun one. Everyone was fun diving today; Joe took JP, Catherine and Steve (Stella also tagged along to help get her experience up, ready for her Divemaster training). Karl took Dmitry, Irina & Sam, Dayna took Boris & Valentin and Claire took Dave. Phew!

Here’s some of the photos from the day…
