Daily Woof and Weather July 26

Today I assisted on an open water course.  My new student Gihan did great on his theory and really enjoyed learning his dive tables.  Other than that, crazy busy as usual here.  Today we had Stella, Axel, Joe, Claudio and Tao all on the boats with a mix of PADI open water students, discover scuba divers and fun divers.  We had boats going ot Koh Tao and to Sail Rock and both sites were great.

Tomorrow I will be finishing my theory for Gihan and then probably try to go relax on the beach and maybe do some fishing. I have been so busy lately I have not had any play time at all.

Also tomorrow we have a full slate of divers again with everyone on the boats to Koh Tao and Sail Rock again.  the weather has been beautiful so it is a great time to dive.

The weather for the next few days is callling for calm winds and no rain.  perfect again as usual for Koh Samui.
Here are some picutres form the last few days of diving and teaching

Daily Woof and Weather July 23

First off, I want to wish a Happy Birthday to my Grandma.  I wish I was there to celebrate with you and steal some cake, but it is way too busy here for me to leave now.

Yes, it has been crazy busy here and hopefully I will have my boat in a few days and then I will even be busier as I will be the boatmaster for the Stoli Boat.  Other than that my new doghouse is almost finished.  They put the kitchen in today and it should only be a couple of weeks till i can move in.

Today we had 3 boats to Koh Tao and Sail Rock.  Axel had advance open water students, Tao and Joe had discover scuba divers, Claudio had open water students and Nicola had fundivers.  Everyone had a great time with a beautiful day and good diving conditions.  We have some pictures of Joe’s group below.

Tomorrow is busy again with Eric, Stella, Axel, Claudio, Tao and Nicola all on the boat and Joe starting open water courses at the Amari.  We have boats going to Koh Tao and to Sail Rock.

The weather looks good with maybe a little rain tomorrow afternoon, but should be after our diving anyway.

Daily Woof and Weather July 19

You won’t believe what happened here yesterday in Samui.  I was out with the divers and we stopped on the beach for lunch.  All of a sudden this giant snapping turtle came out of the water and tried to eat one of our divers.  I sprang into action and used all my paws to kick his ass and subdue him.  I then dragged him on to the beach and displayed him like a trophy.  We even got our dive group to pose for a picture around him after the dive.  I am definitely a hero!

Today we had a big group out to enjoy beautiful Sail Rock.  congratulations to Jacob in completing his PADI open water certification today.  he had a great time finishing his course in Sail Rock with Tao.

Tomorrow we got a big group heading out to Koh Tao, and I should have my boat here in Samui in about a week.  Then the real fun starts.

We had a little rain today off and on, and maybe some coming tonight, then it will clear up for a few days.

Daily Woof and Weather July 17

Another busy week here for me at Discovery Divers.  I’ve been running around everywhere.  The pool, office, the boats.  I’ve barely had time to knock over garbage cans.  We are really in the swing of high season now and the staff and I are doing a great job with all the customers.  On top of that, I got my new house almost finished, and my new boat almost finished.

I should have my new boat here next week.  I will send you lots of pictures when it arrives.  I can’t wait to get out on the boat everyday and dive.  Finally my dream will come true.

Today we had a big group who went to Koh Tao, and Eric was teaching an open water course in the pool and I was assisting of course.

Tomorrow we have another big group for Koh Tao, with Eric, Stella, Axel, Joe, Tao and Bruce all out to have a good time with a mix of fun-divers, PADI courses, and discover scuba divers.  What a day!

The weather’s been hot and sunny again with a forecast high of 33 for tomorrow.  We might get some rain in the evening, but who cares about that as long as it is nice during the day for diving.  Of course the rain washes all of the scents off the trees and I have to go back to work to mark everything again.

Daily Woof and Weather July 15

Sorry folks for not doing a post in the last few days, but I have been so crazy busy that I have not had time.  So yesterday i was up in Pattaya to go look at my new boat and lad to say that it is almost done.  Soon I’ll be diving everyday.

So I spent the day looking for good spots for myself on the boat.  And no, I won’t be going to the toilet on the boat.  That is what we have the sea for.  Or the other dive boats.  I also got a look at the new paint job and all I can say is that there is a picture of a very handsome man on my boat.

While I was gone, the shop has been crazy busy.  Yesterday alone we had 25 customers on 3 different boats and everyone had an awesome time.  Hard to believe that people could have a good time without me, but Joe, Axel, Claudio, Tao, Bruce and Stella are almost as good as me.

Congratulations this week to Zeena who completed her Emergency First Responder and PADI rescue diver course, to Kazuiki for completing his PADI Jr. open water course and to Nicklas and Susan in completing their PADI open water course.

Well the weather this week looks perfect with no wind or rain in the forecast and high temperatures only about 32.  Perfect weather.

Here are some pictures from diving the last couple of days and

Daily Woof and Weather July 10

Hey Peeps,

High season is in full swing here at Discovery Divers.  I spent the whole day at work today and didn’t even get a chance for my usual 2 hours nap.  We had a steady stream of customers coming in all day booking scuba diving, PADI courses and buying a lot of equipment.  After this blog post I am just going to sack out.

So we are completely sold out now until Saturday with Eric, Axel, Joe, Claudio, Stella and Tao all booked up for the next few days.  I tried again to get on the boat to help out teaching and now they are asking for my work permit before I can start teaching.  These guys at the boats are coming up with anything to keep me off the boat.  The guys from the other companies just know that as soon as everyone sees me in action they are all going to look like second-rate.

I can’t wait until my boat is finished and I can go out every day diving.   Eric and I are going to head up to Pattaya on Friday after diving to check out the boat as the builder says it is almost done.  Hope to get it down to Samui soon.

Tomorrow is another busy day with Joe and Claudio doing courses in open water, Axel and Tao have discover scuba divers, Stella and Bruce have fun divers and Eric will be doing an Emergency First Responder course and a rescue diver course.  I guess I’ll have to stay in the shop and keep selling.

The weather today was back to normal with it being sunny and hot.  Great for diving.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the same with a high temp of 33 degrees.

Daily Woof and Weather July 8

Well today I took the day off to play volleyball on the new court behind my house while the guys at the shop were very busy.  Lots and lots of courses booked for this week so I am ready to teach.

The rain stopped overnight finally and the gang had great weather on the trip out to Koh Tao today and great conditions.  Claudio and Joe had a fun time today while Eric slaved away in the office.

Tomorrow busy again with trips to sail rock and koh tao and courses starting at the pool

The weather looks the same with rain supposed to come tonight again and then clearing up tomorrow.

Daily Woof and Weather July 7

I found another way to make money here in Samui.  I will be teaching a weekly garbage tipping over class.  You can learn the fine art of sniffing out where the garbage is, opening the cabinet, and of course being able to get the top off and tip over the garbage to inspect the contents.  Of course if you pass the first course, then you can take the advanced level which is scattering the garbage all over the house.  For both courses we will skip the cleanup portion as that does not concern us.  Maybe we can get PADI to add as an elective dive the boat garbage tip over or the boat tip over specialty course.

Busy again here at Discovery Divers with boats today going to Koh Tao and Sail Rock.  Conditions are great now, so a good time to get in the water.

The weather is the same today with hot and sunny, but I see some clouds rolling in for later and I think it will rain later this afternoon and tonight just like yesterday.  As long as it doesn’t rain while we’re on the boat, then everything’s ok.

Here are the pictures from yesterday that I forgot to attach.  Enjoy.

Daily Woof and Weather July 6

I’m sorry I haven’t written my blog in a couple of days, but we’ve just been crazy busy here at Discovery.  Everyday now tons of PADI courses, first time divers and fun divers.  On top of that I have to keep on top of my house construction and the new boat.  The engines finally came from Japan yesterday so it won’t belong till we can get the boat in the water.

So today we had 25 customers.  Everyone was on the boat, Eric, Joe, Axel, Claudio, Tao, and Stella was in the pool doing scuba reviews and try dives. I was busy in the office booking even more people for next week.

Congratulations today to John, Sebastian, Tom, Matthew and Stephanie in finishing their PADI open water courses today.  We got another big batch of students starting tomorrow.  I’m sure the gang can’t wait till my new boat is here and i can be on the boat everyday taking divers out.

The weather toay held up until about 4 pm, and then the skies opened up and it is still raining cats and dogs out there.  we expect more of the same for the next few days with sun mixed with a little rain, but the guys tell me that the diving has been fantastic.

I’m including some pictures of our July 4th diving, where we had a big group of Americans celebrating with us.

Yes, it is time for you to put in your votes for who should win the PADI open water diver challenge.  Team Norway or Team Awesome.  You can check out the pictures and videos which are on our facebook page and vote for who should win.  You can access our facebook page by going to our website at http://www.discoverydivers.com and click the facebook link at the bottom of the home page.  Lots of vids and pics.

Well, high season is here and I am working my tail off already scheduling divers, teaching courses and working on my other projects.  It’s amazing how many dogs come during high season to take their courses.

Rodney, Katis, Eirik, Kristin, Agnes and Astri all completed their open water courses yesterday.  Great job guys.  Sorry I couldn’t be your instructor, but Joe and Axel did a great job.

Today is overcast here which is giving us a little break from that strong, hot sun.  The forecast is for a little rain here and there for the next few days, but mainly in he evening.

Daily Woof and Weather June 2

While the battle of Team Norway and Team Awesome was going on in the PADI open water challenge, I was up visiting the place where my new boat is being built.  Between trying to supervise the boat building and my house building and managing the dive shop I’m getting a little too busy.

So, the boat is coming along pretty good.  Just needs a few pictures of me of course to make it look cool.  I was ready to take it for a spin and drive back down to Samui, but then noticed that the boat had no engines yet.  I wonder how long it would take to drive with me kicking at the back.  Has anyone seen a boat with a 1 dogpower engine?  It’s nice to see it coming along and should have the engines soon.

Since I missed the final of the open water scuba challenge, I will get the results tomorrow for you and give you a full report.

It just rained again here, but that is fine.  We don’t mind rain at night with the days being sunny and hot.  We had boats today to Sail Rock and Koh Tao and conditions were great at both places.

I’ll leave you with some pictures of the new boat.

Daily Woof and Weather July 1

Who cares about Spain v Italy in the Euro final tonight.  The big contest is Axel’s team Norway v Joe’s team awesome in the July PADI open water  diver course challenge.  Which team can hover the best?  Exhale the whole way up on the cesa?  Which team can give me the most treats?  With three students each, Team Awesome is holding a slight lead over team Norway with one day to go.  The final is tomorrow at Sail Rock.  Don’t miss it!!

In addition to the big contest tomorrow, Tao will be taking some discover scuba divers to Koh Tao, Stella will be taking fun divers to Sail Rock and Claudio will be starting 3 new open water students in the pool.  I will be assisting Claudio of course.

Well, it is currently raining cats and dogs here, but who really cares about the cats anyway.  I haven’t seen lightning like this in a while.  I even got a good picture of the lightning on my paw-phone.  Check it out below.  the rain is supposed to stop in a little bit and then another sunny and hot one for tomorrow.

Let me try to go stay dry and we’ll let you know who wins the PADI Open Water Challenge tomorrow.
